CelluClay Bowls
This
material was somewhat challenging to create these small nesting bowls.
We used small glass bowls with saran wrap to mold them. If they were too
thick they did not dry well and had a weird mushy consistency. Also
some of them got stuck to the paper plates. If they were too thin they
would crack. So finding a perfect thickness was the goal! Some of my
students (I teach 9th-12th grade) were able to create beautiful bowls.
We painted them with acrylic paint and then sprayed them with a
protective coat. They weigh nearly nothing since they are made of paper
pulp, but are surprisingly strong.
